Day 8:Ginza

Blijf op de hoogte en volg Jacs

14 Juli 2014 | Japan, Tokio

After a slow start of the day, Terry and I went to Ginza district. Ginza is one of the more expensive districts and all of the big names in fashion are represented there (blabla..). First we headed to the fishmarket, but since it was 12:00/13:00 at that time, it was pretty empty and only the smell remained.. After that we walked over a bridge into Tsukishima, 'the man made island'. It wasn't really interesting, but there we're a LOT of good food stalls and small restaurants :). Instead of grabbing a bit though, we went back into the expensive part of Ginza, into the department stores. There (the still VERY) fresh food gets a pretty big discount after 12:00, just to be able to sell it as fresh food. We also camera across a Japanese tea stand with samples, and the woman was so nice and let is taste different kinds of tea. We ended up both buying some from her :) After walking around a bit, we decided to check out the yukata's (Japanese women's traditional summerwear) and in the end, I bought one! Pictures will be online sometime, but since my yukata is an indoor yukata I will not be able to wear of outdoors. That was pretty much today ^^

Edit: ok, so I'm dumb. I forgot to tell about the Buddhist temple in the ginza district. Before we went to the fishmarket we went to the Buddhist temple nearby. From the outside of seemed to almost look like a western building, but it was very Asian on the inside. The main altar was made of gold (or gold plating) and had two smaller ones on both sides. I believe I may have even had a bit of a spiritual moment as I was paying my respects, but who knows right?
